One of the greatest challenges facing a writer is telling a story that has been told a thousand, ten thousand, ten thousand thousand times before. Sunrises. Sunsets. Mountains. Rivers. Valleys. Planet Earth.
When I walked 1500 kms with my son, across Italy and through the Balkans in 2007, that writing challenge was the lifeblood of the journey. Pen and notebook in pocket, I reached for it over and over and over as my creative self reached into her deepest well to draw out new possibilities for describing the natural world around me.
This is my favourite writing. Writing the wild.
If you would like to organise a ‘writing the wild’ experience for yourself or a group of friends, contact me – I’d love to share these skills with you.
